Lemon Mint Sugar Scrub

The weather has been brutal and is changing in the blink of an eye.  The dry itchy crocodile skin is already setting in.  I can feel that annoying cold that leaves you stuffy for days following me around just waiting for me to let my guard down so it can attack.

I need a pick me up.  Lets get smooth, vibrant and energized shall we!  Let’s slough off dead skin and keep our sinuses happy.  Lemon essential oil is uplifting and cleansing, while peppermint is energizing, comforting and helps to clear congestion.  Lemon Mint Sugar Scrub is a win-win all the way around.

Instructions
  1. Gather all of your ingredients. You don't have to have a mini mortar and pestle of course..but it is pretty sweet right?
  2. In a medium bowl combine sugar and all but a one little blob of your coconut oil. I use 1/2 cup of coconut oil because I like my scrub to be pretty thick, but you can add more to thin it out if you prefer. Chop your fresh mint and combine with the reserved drop of coconut oil and prepare to get your muddle on (muddling is another word for combining ingredients, or in this case, pressing or mashing to release the essential oils in the mint before adding to the scrub).
  3. Add the lemon juice, lemon and peppermint oils and muddled mint to the sugar scrub mixture until thoroughly incorporated.
  4. Viola! Store in a PLASTIC container and get your scrub on!
Recipe Notes

I do my scrubbing in the shower and glass is not something I need to worry about breaking while I'm trying to have a "Calgon" spa moment.  I also have 3 small children and glass in the shower is not happening.  I'm sure you can find someplace safe to store it in the bathroom between scrubs, but I always seem to be in the shower soaking wet before I realize I forgot to get it from it the cupboard.

I should also note that this would be an awesome foot scrub.  I prefer a more heavy-duty sugar for the feetsies..let's not sugar coat it..(pun intended), Dry thick calluses suck! so I call in the big guns for that.  Sugar In The Raw is my go to for feet.  Try both versions of the Lemon Mint Sugar Scrub and tell me what you think (:
